An evening with Swimmers
Swimmers hosts Eley Williams, Daisy Lafarge, and Emily Berry, on Thursday 29th September, at The New Evaristo Club [Trisha’s] for an evening of literature and the announcement of Pamphlet Issue Four.
Eley Williams is co-editor of fiction at 3:AM magazine and her prose has appeared in the journals Ambit, Night & Day, Structo and The White Review. She teaches both creative writing and children’s literature at Royal Holloway, University of London. Influx Press will publish her debut short story collection, Attrib., in 2017.
Daisy Lafarge grew up in the south of England before moving to Edinburgh for university. Her poems have been included in publications such as Ambit, Poetry London and Tender. In February she was awarded first prize in the Poetry Book Society National Student Poetry Competition. Now based in Glasgow, she has recently begun an interdisciplinary PhD.
Emily Berry’s first book of poems is Dear Boy, which won the Forward Prize for Best First Collection and the Hawthornden Prize. She was a contributor to The Breakfast Bible (a compendium of breakfasts) and editor of Best British Poetry 2015 (Salt Publishing). A selection of her work appears in Penguin Modern Poets 1: If I’m Scared We Can’t Win (Penguin, 2016). Her second poetry collection, Stranger, Baby, will be published in 2017.
