An evening with Swimmers
Swimmers presents Jay Bernard, Lucy Mercer, Hannah Sullivan, and Rowan Hisayo Buchanan at The Function Room, Somers Town, for an evening of literature and the announcement of Pamphlet Issue 10.
Jay Bernard is from London and works as a writer and film programmer at BFI Flare (London’s LGBT film festival). They are the author of three pamphlets, The Red and Yellow Nothing (2016), English Breakfast (2013), and Your Sign is Cuckoo, Girl (2008), and have been featured in numerous anthologies and magazines, including TEN: The New Wave, Voice Recognition, Out of Bounds: Black British Writers and Place and Flicker and Spark: A Contemporary Queer Anthology.
Lucy Mercer is a writer based in London. She has been recently published in Poetry Review, Poetry London, LA Review of Books and New Socialist. She is studying for a PhD in ‘Speculative Emblematics’
Hannah Sullivan’s first collection, Three Poems, will be published by Faber in January. She lives in London with her husband and two sons, and teaches English at New College, Oxford.
Rowan Hisayo Buchanan is the author of the novel Harmless Like You, winner of The Authors’ Club First Novel Award and a Betty Trask Award. Her short work has appeared in Granta, Guernica, The Guardian, The Atlantic, and NPR’s Selected Shorts.
