An evening with Swimmers

Swimmers hosts R.A.Villanueva, Declan Ryan, André Naffis-Sahely, and Malene Engelund at The Function Room for an evening of art, literature, and announcements.

R. A. Villanueva’s debut collection, Reliquaria (U. Nebraska Press, 2014), won the Prairie Schooner Book Prize. New writing appears or is forthcoming in Poetry, The American Poetry Review, Prac Crit (UK), The Wolf (UK), and widely elsewhere. He lives in Brooklyn and London.

Declan Ryan was born in Mayo, Ireland and lives in north London. He co-edited the Days of Roses anthology series and now edits Wild Court, a new online poetry journal. A pamphlet of his poems appeared as part of the Faber New Poets series.

André Naffis-Sahely was born in Venice in 1985 to an Iranian father and an Italian mother, but raised in Abu Dhabi. He writes poetry and nonfiction and works as a literary translator from the French and the Italian. His debut collection of poems, The Promised Land, will be published by Penguin in 2017.

Malene Engelund was born in Aalborg, Denmark. Her poems have appeared in various magazines and anthologies, including Poetry Wales, Magma and the Valley Press anthology Pocket Horizon. She holds an MA in Creative Writing from Royal Holloway and co-edited the Days of Roses poetry anthologies (2011 and 2013). Her new pamphlet The Wild Gods will be out in March.
