OFFSHORE: Transparent things

Offshore artists Natasha Cox, Keira Greene, and Bella Marrin present a new body of work made during their time in residence at Store.

When we concentrate on a material object, whatever its situation, the very act of attention may lead to our involuntary sinking into the history of that object. Novices must learn to skim over matter if they want matter to stay at the exact level of the moment. Transparent things, through which the past shines!
(‘Transparent Things’, V. Nabokov)

Transparent Things‘ emerges from the shared interests of the group in the slippery nature of image production and the dislocation of narrative sequentiality. The works presented are fixed reels, locked grooves and science fictions. Images skim and sink across the level of the moment as language folds in on itself.

Works presented: ‘Lag’ by Natasha Cox, ‘A Recent Age of Promise’ by Keira Greene and ‘One Thing Won’t Lead to Another’ by Bella Marrin.
