In The Wings

This year STORE will be working with the Warsaw Cultural Education Centre to provide a two week architecture and design summer school from the 16th -28th August.

Students at STORE’s Warsaw Summer School are challenged to explore architecture, art practice, design and performance over two weeks in the historic Old Gunpowder House Theatre in central Warsaw.

Students will be invited to critically examine the architecture of the theatre; theatrical devices such as set changes, trap doors and the diorama. From this research and early drawn iterations the group will then design and build a semi-permanent outdoor structure that will be the focal point for a public performance on the final weekend of the summer school, where the architecture will become performer.

Alongside the construction of the architectural installation each student will develop a range of work including drawings, models and prototypes as research for a personal project to design a range of experimental seating for the public on the final weekend.

This course is suitable for students interested in studying architecture, design and fine art at university level, and for those already in higher education. Each student will gain vital experience in drawing, conceptual design, delivering projects, communicating ideas, and architectural construction.

This years Warsaw Summer school will be lead by tutors, Klaudia Kepinska, Tamsin Snow and Kevin Green.

The summer school is in partnership with The Warsaw Cultural Education Centre, and is kindly sponsored by Castorama, JEMS architects and Akademeia.
