Pool Noodle Parametrics

Tutors:

This workshop explores the use of pool noodles as a material for the construction of a social seating landscape at Clapton Girls’ Academy. Students spend the morning learning about unconventional public seating: imaginative landscapes that encourage social interaction and provide an alternative to the more familiar varieties of public seating, such as park benches. Each student begins by constructing repeating modules out of cable ties. The individual modules are then connected together, forming the base grid for a seating landscape. The afternoon is spent arranging and securing the pool noodles into the modular grid, forming a new social seating landscape for the school playground.
