Makers Manual is a collaborative project between exciting makers and STORE STORE. These downloadable manuals are a practical guide to making at home for beginners and experts.
This manual will teach you how to print at home, without a printer, but using a potato. Yes, you’ve read it right, a potato. Why? Because Serana Angelista aims to make graphic design as approachable as possible, for every age and skill set. This means stripping the act of graphic design to its core and to the bare essentials. All you need is some paint and potatoes.
Serana (BA in Fine Arts) first started drawing in response to television news reports. Serana’s reflection of their experiences were always visual: “I never had a diary. I drew.” Processing stimuli and information in a visual way introduced Serana to graphic design. After a preliminary study at the MBO, Serana graduated in 2017 from the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam. Once there, they laid the technical and theoretical foundations for their craft. Serana mostly bypassed the Eurocentric curriculum to explore their self-taught inspirations.
