In this workshop, students design and construct a large self-supporting structure out of modular aluminium box sections and aluminium tape used as a joining device. Students spend the morning developing scaled models individually, to understand basic structural principles and design proportions before consolidating their findings to construct a full-scale installation in the afternoon. This workshop aims to introduce structural principles in a hands-on manner and explore the aesthetics of intuitive making.
